Letter to Students and Parents
Welcome to Our Chemistry Class,
Hello, we are Ms. Moore and Ms. Daugherty and we am very excited to be your chemistry teachers this upcoming year.
If you ever have a concern or question, we urge you to come and talk to us quickly because chemistry is a cumulative topic and getting behind can quickly snowball into a bigger issue, therefore getting help quickly is strongly encouraged.
As a lifelong learners, we am learning this semester along with you and therefore we will want your help in letting us know how we am doing. Please understand that we believe we always need to learn new things so we can become a better teacher every day, therefore; this class will teach us as much as we expect it to teach you.
As your teacher this semester it is not our goal to discipline nor to be your friend. Our goal is to teach you all that we can about chemistry and along to way hopefully teach you how to be a better student. We hope to enjoy this experience and have fun along with you but this will require your respect and cooperation. For your respect and cooperation we promise to treat you with the same respect, we plan to treat you as the young adult you deserve to be treated as. It is for this reason that we take rules, especially which are relate to safety, very seriously. At times you may think that our expectations are too strict but please trust us and understand that all of the rules we implement are for your best interest and safety.
We promise to never give up on you. We do plan to challenge you and we expect you to rise to the challenge. We expect you to come to class prepared to learn with a positive attitude. We understand that it is not always easy to have a positive attitude and when it is not easy for you please communicate with us and we will respond appropriately. Every day we will expect you to enter our classroom and consider it a new opportunity to be successful. We hope to gain your trust so that you can speak to us about difficulties that you might be facing.
This year we have set goals for ourselves, one of which is to do what we can to assist you in learning chemistry. The second, that is equally as important, is to help you learn how to function as a responsible young adult. Some of the things that we hope to teach you are how to:
Your success is our class is not limited to the grade you receive in our class. Your success can be measured by the growth and progress you make as a chemistry student as well as a person.
We will not lower our standards or expectations and we will hold you accountable for your own learning. We expect you to have the confidence in yourself that you can and will be successful in our class and you will be a better student for meeting these demands. Students please click here and complete this form to confirm you have read the letter and provide me with some information about you.
Sincerely,
Ms. Amy Moore and Ms. Lori Daugherty
